Implementing Organization

Island Trust, which stands for Indo Sri Lankan Development Trust, was founded in 1984 in Tamil Nadu, South India, to render succor, relief and love to the displaced Tamil repatriates from Sri Lanka. Island Trust has completed 26 years developing the capacity of its target groups in The Nilgiris.

Island Trust has been extending care and support services to people living with HIV and AIDS since 2004. IT was prompted to take up care and support services because of its direct experience with HIV positive people in its working villages and has adopted prevention, care, support and promotion of self reliance among people living with HIV in The Nilgiris.

It receives project support from the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society and AIDS Prevention and Control Project for the implementation of a community care center project and prevention education in 120 villages.
